The part nobody says out loud about the budget

The line item everyone agreed to and nobody read. I walk through the three pages that matter, who wrote them, and why the people who benefit are counting on you finding this boring.

Then: a listener in Dayton sent me her water bill, and it turns out it's a national story.

03 — Who's talking

About Lizzy

I spent eleven years in local newsrooms being told to cut the part where I said what I thought. The part where I said what I thought was usually the reason the story mattered. So I built a studio in the back room of my house and stopped cutting it.

I'm not neutral and I'm not going to perform it for you. What I will do is show my work — where the number came from, who said it first, what I got wrong last week. You can disagree with me and still know exactly what I based it on. That's the deal.
